Challenging fiction – exploring meaning-making processes in the crossover between social media and drama in education

Working in the crossover between social media and drama in education allows both the teacher and the students to explore and investigate the performative society and the culture that surrounds us. In my research I ask the following question: what kind of possibilities do social media add to the field of applied drama. Through the concept of dramaturgy as a performative approach to drama in education and meaning-making processes in a performative perspective (Szatkowski, 1993; 2011; Allern, 2003) I discuss how social media can revitalise teaching and learning drama. 


Kristian is in his final year as a Ph.D. Student in Drama and Theatre in education at NTNU – Institute for Teacher Education. In his research he explores how the performative and digital society can stimulate to renewal when teaching and learning drama.
